About

I am a Senior Lecturer at the Institute for Design Innovation at Loughborough University, London.

My research is interdisciplinary, drawing on theories and debates from environmental politics, social movement studies and critical studies of design. I am increasingly interested in the politics of epistemology and performativity in critical design. My current work is focused on three areas:

  • the epistemic role of design in institutionalising discourses of sustainability;
  • theorising and interpreting design as political activity in the context of social movements;
  • practicing design as a social process to interpret the ways in which design negotiates democratic outcomes.
